Lucid Motors is preparing to launch its first-ever electric sedan, the Lucid Air, in the second half of 2021. Naturally, any new EV company is compared to Tesla, which is considered to be the holy grail in the EV space.
Despite this critical news not being in the investor call, Lucid Motors has started construction on their second phase, which will ultimately see an expansion of 2,400,000 square feet, including mechanical/industrial building space and approximately 3,000 parking spaces on about 152.36 acres.
Lucid Motors Chief Executive Officer Peter Rawlinson told Reuters on Tuesday that the luxury electric car maker plans to launch a rival to Tesla Inc’s Model 3 in 2024 or 2025.
In previous interviews, Peter Rawlinson, the CEO and CTO of Lucid Motors stated that crash testing would only be tested on production models. In the investor call yesterday, Peter Rawlinson said, “We are in the late stages of the crash testing program, and the car is in the midst of EPA range testing.”
