I

n a letter from Lucid Motors CEO Peter Rawlinson, Lucid announced that vehicles would not be delivered this spring as initially promised. Instead, customer deliveries will begin sometime in the second half of 2021. We are about three months into the second half of 2021, but there has been no definitive news about deliveries...until now.

Dream Edition Update

This morning (September 20th, 2021) customers who reserved the Lucid Air Dream Edition got an email update that says:

The day has arrived, it's time to confirm your order. Head to your Lucid account to confirm either Range or Performance version, exterior color, and wheel type of your new Dream Edition. Feel free to reach out with any questions, otherwise a member of our team will be in touch soon to personally guide you through the order process.

Daily Lucid Take

Just yesterday September 19th, Daily Lucid released a post explaining how Lucid is inching its way closer to deliveries. And we could expect reservation holders to maybe expect their car some time in October.

“EPA...Check. VINs...Check. Media Week...Check. I think it would be safe to assume that we will get the official news of when Lucid Motors is planning to deliver cars to customers during the production preview week. Lucid Motors has not contacted reservation holders to confirm which variant reservation holders want Range or Performance, but this could happen in the next week, most likely during production preview week. So again I would expect the first cars to be delivered early-mid October.”

One thing to point out is that there is speculation that deliveries could also happen as soon as next week. In a press release earlier this month, Lucid said that it will:

“open the doors of its Advanced Manufacturing Plant (AMP-1) factory in Casa Grande to members of the media and financial communities, policymakers, and a select group of customers.”

Rumors are going around that Lucid may deliver vehicles to a select group of customers at the production preview week. This is possible and makes sense. But it is just speculation, and to air on the safe side, we estimate that October is when customers could start getting their vehicles.

With this email, it’s most likely that Lucid has also completed their crash testing program. Although Lucid has not confirmed that either.

But here is what we do know:

  • Merger complete
  • EPA testing done
  • Numerous Vins registered
